Islay Whisky Distilleries
In 2022 Islay in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, is home to nine working distilleries with a couple more to come in the next year or two. Of the nine, three have place name t shirts in our collection. Whisky geek? Have you been? Are you going? Get the t shirt!
Ardbeg
Ardbeg originally began producing in1815 but fell into disuse in the 1980's and only sporadically produced spirit until Glenmorangie picked it up in 1997. Ardbeg is a village on the south coast of Islay with a population of just a couple of dozen.
Bowmore
Bowmore distillery was founded in 1779, the oldest on Islay. The village of around 700 people is the biggest settlement on Islay and serves as its administrative capital.
Bruichladdich
Bruichladdich known for its eponymous single malt, but also the home of The Botanist Gin. The distillery and village sit on the western peninsula of the island. The settlement of around 170 people grew up around the distillery.
